This summer, PhD student Rowan Steineker and Prof. Josh Piker travelled to Chicago to participate in the Summer Institute sponsored by the Newberry Library’s Consortium in American Indian Studies. The opportunity to participate in the Summer Institute, which includes daily seminars, a graduate student conference, and abundant archival time, is one of the many benefits that come from the University’s recent decision to join the Newberry Consortium. The Newberry has a long and distinguished history of advancing American Indian Studies, and the library’s archival resources in Native American history are unparalleled. As a member of NCAIS, OU’s graduate students and faculty now have access to a wide range of fellowships, conferences, workshops, and institutes.
